Ghostery: A Firefox Addon To Make your Browsing More Secure

Ghostery is a Firefox extension which makes your browsing save and secure by blocking the scripts that are trying to track and hack your information and browser habits.
Once installed, its icon will be placed in browser status bar.

When you will open page, it will display all the tracking scripts in a small rectangle in the upper right corner.


To get details about these scripts, click on the status bar icon and a menu will display you each tracker.

There you can check their description that what are these and which script they are using to track you. If you want to block theses trackers, just block them.
Ghostery is freely available for Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Safari.

Facebook web slice for Inter Explorer: Your friends and family are single click away from you

Facebook web slice is Internet explorer add-on which allows users a quick and faster way to access their Facebook updates. Now your friends and family are in your favorites bar in Internet Explorer.
Once installed Facebook slice will be added in the favorite bar.


At first, users have to login to his/her Facebook account by clicking the link “Click here to Login”. After logging in, click the FB slice and the slice will display your FB updates.

There you can share whatever you want, but most of the features available on this web slice will take you to the Facebook website.
Facebook Web Slice is only available for Internet Explorer 8. It can be downloaded from the Internet Explorer add-on’s gallery.

McAfee SiteAdvisor

McAfee SiteAdvisor is a security add-on for your Internet Explorer and Firefox browser, help you identify sites which are linked to spyware, adware, spam, viruses, browser-based attacks, phishing, or online fraud.

Once installed, the SiteAdvisor service integrates with search engine results from popular search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN and many others) and also adds an icon to the browser toolbar that indicates whether a site is considered safe to use. It uses different icons to notify that whether a site is secure or contains spywares or other worms.


If SiteAdvisor has negative information for a site, you can review a detailed online report that shows any spam received from that site, a list of harmful downloads and link relations with other sites.
SiteAdvisor’s current version is available for Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Reframe It

Reframe It approaches the idea of Web page comments from a different angle. It puts them in a sidebar that changes for any page you visit so you can comment even if a page has no comments functionality, and there’s no moderation.
Because you start by setting up an account, Reframe It provides a hub to connect all your comments with all your social networks. So it’s easy to bring friends into a discussion, and give them plenty of contexts.


Restart Firefox after installation and you will see a prompt in the sidebar (called the Reframe It Margin) to create a Reframe It account. After that’s set up you can open and close the sidebar. One popular way to make a comment is to highlight text on a page, make a comment about it and post.

And when you point someone to a site it’s easy to clarify what matters on that site. Right click on an image and choose “Reframe It –Add Comment Here”.


Think of it as a social network that follows you around on the Web. Then think of it as a comment function established by the commentators themselves. Watch this video for clarity.

LastPass is a free online password manager and Form Filler that makes your web browsing easier and more secure. LastPass supports all major internet browsers i.e. Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari as a browser extension (and Opera, Opera Mini and more via Bookmarklets ).
To import Chrome passwords (Windows only currently), you'll also need full Windows installer available on http://lastpass.com/.

Send with Windows Live Hotmail

Do you like to send notes and links to yourself or others while browsing with Internet Explorer 8? Now you can use your Windows Live e-mail account to send that information out using the Send with Windows Live Hotmail accelerator.
There are two steps to add the accelerator to IE 8. First, click on Add to Internet Explorer and then confirm the installation when the secondary window appears.

To e-mail the link or text , select the text , right click somewhere within the webpage and select Send with Live Mail.



A new tab will be opened with a freshly pre-filled e-mail ready to go. All that you need to add is the recipient’s e-mail address (and any last minutes notes if desired).


If you are focusing on a group of text, highlight the desired area and select the Send with Live Mail listing from the context menu.

Note: Images will not transfer with the text if selected.

Do any last minute touch-ups that you desire, add the recipient’s e-mail address, and your e-mail is ready to go.

WOT: Web of Trust

Web of Trust, or WOT, is a browser extension that's designed to help you browse more safely. When you search online, WOT accesses its database to see approximately how safe your search results really are. Once installed, you can run WOT in different modes
  •   Basic
  •   Light
  •   Parental Control

 
Next to each result it places a colored circle. These colored circles specify the safety level of web pages.
  •  Green indicates a safe site
  •  Yellow means you should proceed with caution
  •  Red tells you that you should probably steer clear
When you roll over the colored circle, you'll get more in-depth ratings. If you really want to look into a particular site, WOT can provide you with ratings from other WOT users. 


This is especially useful for online shopping. WOT has a special rating for vender reliability to help warn you of a potentially fraudulent storefront.

Bing Translator

Bing translator is IE8 Add-on enables you to translate any selected phrase or sentence to you native language at your finger tips. You don’t need to open other tabs as it will translate at any page.
After installing the add-on,
Select the sentence ->right click->hover over the “Translate with Bing” and language translator will be displayed. This dialog box contains primary and secondary languages which you can choose for translation.
